Diet Update and The Value of Exercise

TennisI previously posted about my seeking to lose a few pounds by going back on a low carb diet. It’s been 4 weeks now and I’ve lost a total of 17 pounds now! 10 pounds over the first couple weeks and 7 pounds over the last couple weeks.

I must say that its been much easier this time than last time. Firstly, Heavenly has been preparing some excellent dishes that utilize low carb substitutes for sugars and breads and secondly, we allow one day a week to cheat and eat anything we like. So far, the affect of that has been minimal so we will continue to have a our “Cheat Day”.

As I see it, as long as I lose at least 3 pounds a week, I’ll be happy.

One necessary component of any successful weight program should be regular exercise. Not only does it help you lose weight by burning extra calories, but it makes you feel so much better.

Heavenly and I started by taking 45 minutes in the middle of the day, after lunch, to go to Leddy Park and play Tennis. Within a week, I began to feel stronger, my appetite decreased, I’m sleeping better and have better concentration when working. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this good physically.

Just doing 30 mins of excercise a day will make a world of difference, it can be as simple as walking around your local park or streets or a game of tennis, hiking, whatever you enjoy doing.

However, it needs to be regular. Try to do it at least 4 days a week… don’t cram it all into Saturday or Sunday and say your done.

Do it regularly throughout the week and you should see a difference in your weight loss and how you feel.
